Here are a few dossiers broached at the Huntingdon municipal council meeting held July 6.
-A resident of West street called upon the elected officials to provide a better police surveillance regarding the new stop sign installed at that spot, because several motorists are not obeying it. Mayor Andre Brunette indicated that the SQ was already assuring a surveillance, but that the subject will be brought to their attention.
– The Town sold a lot situated on Anciens-Combattants street to Frechette Construction for $9,328.92. The council chose to designate that sum for the upkeep of Sellars Park, but councillor Remi Robidoux voted against the proposal, saying that Prince Arthur Park should benefit instead.
– The council granted assistance of $100 for the Huntingdon Maison des Jeunes Extreme summer camp. The Mayor reminded that the Town was already assuring the group’s rent, as well as the electricity and heating expenses.
– Assistance of $1,500 has been consented to the Huntingdon Agricultural Society for the holding of the Agricultural Fair which will take place on August 7, 8 and 9.
– The council modified its zoning bylaw in order to from now on authorize the usage of day-care centres in the family milieu in the residential zones of its district.
– The elected officials accepted the retirement departure of Robert Hart as of July 1. Employed by the Town since 1985, Mr. Hart has been in charge of the tap water service and waste water, in addition to acting as operator at the waste water plant.
