A thirty-three year old man was charged with impaired driving after he drove off the road at the corner of Chemin de Planches and route 132 in Sainte-Barbe on Tuesday, April 5 around 11:40 p.m.
The driver, who had possibly been a customer at a licensed establishment, appeared to want to impress his friends. He got into his car and began to do donuts with it. However, during the manoeuvre, he lost control of his car and drove into the ditch.
Joyce Kemp, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, was informed that the driver left his car in the ditch and fled the scene in another vehicle as a passenger. « Witnesses provided a description of the getaway car which was traced by the police to Saint-Anicet, » explained Kemp. »The runaway was taken to the police station where he failed a breathalyser test. »
In addition to being charged with driving under the influence, he could also be charged with dangerous driving.
