In early 2017, local non-profit group The Elgin and District Pipes and Drums donated $500 to Residence Elle Huntingdon. The amount was presented to Linda Ouimet by band members Cathie Anderson and Raymond Stonehouse.
Throughout the year, The Elgin and District Pipes and Drums participate in many parades and events across Quebec, Ontario and north of New York state. While most proceeds from these events are used for band equipment and travel expenses, excess funds are donated to local charities, which have included Huntingdon County Hospital’s Ladies Auxiliary, The Betty Riel Foundation, Residence Elle Huntingdon and the Huntingdon’s Royal Canadian Legion (Br. 81) to date.
