The Town of Huntingdon has settled on a new five year collective agreement with its municipal employees.
This new employment agreement was approved by the municipal council during their monthly meeting in March. It includes, in particular, a 2.5% yearly increase in salary up to December 31, 2020. Councillor Denis St-Cyr, who established the negotiating committee for the town along with the Mayor, André Brunette, Councillor Rémi Robidoux and Director General Johanne Hébert, praised the spirit of collaboration in which the talks took place.
The Town of Huntingdon has 18 employees to cover administrative, public works and water treatment services.
In addition, the municipal council also agreed upon financial compensation that varies between $13 and $18 an hour to be paid to the 24 volunteer firefighters.

The municpal council has agreed to contribute $100 to two events; the Gala de reconnaissance Jeunesse rurale on May19 in Sainte-Barbe and the Festival des Apprentis frontaliers Actifs from March18 to 20 at Arthur-Pigeon Secondary School.
Pro-mayor
Councillor Howard Welburn has been designated pro-mayor from March to May of 2016.
A new army cadet corps
The council has given its support for a project to establish an army cadet corps in Huntingdon to serve the Haut Saint-Laurent sector. The project, which is planned for January, 2017, was submitted by Lieutenant (Navy) Pierre Lefebvre.
