A sixty year old woman was arrested following the seizure of illegal drugs which was carried out May 25 at a single family dwelling on Lambton St. in Howick.

With a search warrant in hand, police officers from the Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC Sûreté du Québec seized some five grams of a substance that looked like cocaine, 130 grams of cannabis and a certain number of marijuana plants.

The sixty year old woman was questioned and then released under a promise to appear at the Palais de justice in Valleyfield.

The police investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be made at a later date. This raid was carried out as a result of information received from the public.

Passenger injured in a collision

An accident involving two vehicles occurred on route 201 in  Franklin on May 25 shortly after 4:30 p.m. The driver of one car, who was exiting the parking lot of the grocery store across from Lac des Pins, failed to yield to a driver driving south on route 201 which resulted in a collision. One passenger in the car driving on 201suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Hôpital du Suroît in Valleyfield for first aid.

Motocross accident

On May 21, a motocross driver who was training on a motocross trail in Franklin lost control of his bike during a jump and suffered serious but not life threatening injuries. The young, 18 year old man from Warwick was taken to the Hôpital du Suroît in Valleyfield to receive appropriate care.

Loss of control

An eighteen year old woman from Chateauguay suffered minor injuries after losing control of her vehicle and driving into the ditch May 22 on route 201 in Franklin around 9 a.m. The young woman was taken to the Hôpital du Suroît in Valleyfield. Speed and careless driving appear to have been the cause of the accident according to the police.

Poorly handled curve

A driver appears to have handled a curve badly on route 138 in Godmanchester and landed in the ditch on May 19 around 6:30 p.m. The fifty four year old woman from Saint Anicet was taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries. The passenger with her was uninjured.

Electric scooter stolen

A black, electric scooter was stolen from a garage on King St. in Huntingdon sometime between the 19th and 20th of May. The scooter is valued at around $1000. No one has been arrested in connection with this theft.
