Following the cabinet shuffle on Thursday, January 28 in Québec, MNA for Huntingdon, Stéphane Billette said he was honoured to be reappointed to his duties as Chief Government Whip, a position he has held since April 23, 2014.
« I’m touched that Québec Premier, Philippe Couillard, has again shown his confidence in me, mentioned Billette. It’s an enormous privilege and a great honour. I have an essential role. I work in close collaboration every day with the MNAs, Ministers and the Premier of Québec. »
In his functions as chief government whip, Stéphane Billette oversees, in particular, discipline and cohesion amongst his fellow Liberal Party MNAs of the Quebec National Assembly. He ensures that House business and parliamentary commissions are functioning properly, participates in cabinet meetings and plays an active role in daily meetings with MNAs.
« I would like to thank the citizens of the Huntingdon Riding from the bottom of my heart for their confidence in me. Being MNA for Huntingdon constituents is a privilege and I am happy to work for them and defend their interests at the National Assembly, » emphasized Billette.
