The second edition of the journée « Découvertes » (Discovery Day) intended for members of the Haut-Saint-Laurent business community will take place on Wednesday, November 16 from 8 a.m. at the Ormstown Recreation Centre.
Under the theme « Développer, cultiver collectivement » (developing, growing collectively) the day will offer an excellent opportunity to attend four conferences and do some networking. The event is hosted by the Beauharnois-Valleyfield-Haut-Saint-Laurent Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Haut-Saint-Laurent CDC and the Huntingdon Farmers’ Market. Businesses in the region are invited to register immediately because places are limited.
This year the day will be exclusively for exhibitors and the approximately 100 expected conference delegates because last year, there were only four visitors that came to the community centre.
« The Haut-Saint-Laurent is recognized for its richness and diversity, » emphasized Sylvain Gascon from the Huntingdon Farmers’ Market. « As well as having two strong language groups, the region includes a number of very solid business networks. It’s well worth discovering. »
The committee organizer believes that the highlights of the day will be the four conferences. Starting at 9:15 a.m., Jean David will present « La force du changement par l’innovation » (the power of change through innovation). « Jean David was one of the builders of Cirque du Soleil. He worked in the business for 15 years as Vice-president of Marketing. His conference will deal with takeover and leadership, » indicated Sylvie Villemure from the Beauharnois-Valleyfield-Haut-Saint-Laurent Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Crystal Eastwood of River Road Roaster will give the second conference of the morning. At 1:30 p.m those present for the afternoon can attend a conference given by Nathalie Collins from Coop Racines which will be followed at 3 p.m. with a conference by Marc-André Bélisle from Edge Lettrage.
