The Haut-Saint-Laurent will display the richness of its diversity at a new event taking place on Wednesday November 18 at the Ormstown Recreation Centre.
The purpose of the Journée «Découvertes» agricole, commerciale, industrielle et sociale is to exhibit the assets of this region by way of a conference. A featured speaker will deliver opening remarks in the morning and, during the afternoon, three speakers from the area will address the participants. There will also be some twenty exhibitors displaying their products and services.
“Not only does the Haut-Saint-Laurent include two strong linguistic communities, it is also comprised of a number of very solid business networks. The agricultural, social, business and industrial communities have much to gain from this exposure,” affirms Sylvain Gascon, coordinator of the Marché fermier du comté de Huntingdon.
Now that it has become part of the Valleyfield and Beauharnois Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Haut-Saint-Laurent would like to take the opportunity to highlight and bring together all of its resources for the synergy they create. “Why not develop them more and to greater advantage, and create a territory even stronger in its assets,” suggests Gascon, one of the main coordinators of the event organized in collaboration with the Haut-Saint-Laurent Corporation de développement communautaire (CDC).
In the morning, Jasmin Bergeron will give a talk to the audience about how to negotiate using the win-win theme. This conference, which is based on practice and interaction, was the idea of a group of people who have had considerable success with negotiation. During the presentation, principles, examples, testimonials and practical exercises will be applied.
A joint conference bringing together three local participants will follow during the afternoon when Serge Gosselin, owner of compagnie d’assurances Gosselin, Claire Raymond from Moisson Sud-Ouest and Alain Dubuc from the Coop des Frontières, present their stories and what it takes to be successful.
Some 100 delegates are expected at the event which will be open and free of charge to the public in the afternoon. Kiosques and tastings will be on the menu for anyone who would like to participate in this Journée “Découvertes”, November 18, at the Recreation Centre, 87 Roy St. in Ormstown.
