The Interclub class B competition for women, played recently in Saint-Anicet, was won by representatives of the host club and this victory has allowed these golfers to move from division 2 to the highest level in the province.
Diane Dion, Margot Deschamps, Danyèle Laplante, Hélène Dumouchel, Hélène Lecomte, Marlyne Parent, Lynda Leduc and Diane Cyr combined their skills to make this happen. The women at the Saint-Anicet Golf Club outscored the women’s teams from the Pinegrove, Sorel and Le Portage Clubs.
Some 15 years of continued effort were rewarded on this memorable Sunday, July 18 when the objective of attaining group 1 was achieved. “This has never been accomplished before by women in the region” praised Daniel Brisson of the Saint-Anicet Golf Club.
This achievement was due in no small part to the work of Diane Lafortune and Lise Daoust (captain), who are responsible for the women’s group in Saint-Anicet. The women golfers at the Saint-Anicet Golf Club will now be part of the four best, class B teams in Québec for 2016.
