The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent invites you to discover or rediscover three visual artists – Jeanne Hart, Serge Poirier and Benoît Therrien – who combine their love of nature and artistic talent to produce paintings and sculptures, on exhibit at the Alfred-Langevin Cultural Hall from January 17 to February 7, 2016.

Inspired by nature and daily life, their work expresses the beauty which surrounds us, as well as the complexity and fragility of our environment.

Jeanne Hart

From her workshop in the village of Ormstown, she has created a series of paintings which tell a story based on a very specific theme. The works she will present follow a linear sequence inviting the spectator to leave the town to visit the marshlands, this little known environment, teeming with life which plays such an important ecological role. Gradually, from one work to another, the spectator begins to realize that the more the town takes over the marsh, the more the marsh disappears, thereby threatening this natural habitat.

Serge Poirier

Recipient of the Coup de coeur du public in the group exhibition, Reflection, during Culture Days in 2015, Serge Poirier, resident of Hinchinbrooke, now presents a collection of his finest wood sculptures. Vibrant realistic images, they are the result of in-depth reflection and impressive detailed work. In fact, he states that he no longer has any idea how much time it took for him to complete the works in this exhibition.

Benoît Therrien

Recipient of numerous awards, as his colleague, Serge Poirier, this wood sculptor from Athelstan presents an exciting variety of birds of prey and ducks, for which he is now very well known. His great passion for sculpting winged fauna will leave you speechless.

This group exhibition launches the 2016 program for the Alfred-Langevin Cultural Hall and will be sure to seduce every visitor with its combination of paintings and wood sculpture!
