The Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC has a new look this fall with the unveiling of a new logo and refurbished administrative offices in Huntingdon.

Prefect Louise Lebrun, Mayor of Sainte-Barbe was enthusiastic as she welcomed the mayors and employees of the MRC for this special unveiling on Wednesday, October 5 at the building on rue King.

In recent weeks, some $90 000 made it possible to renovate the exterior entrance way to the building and refurbish the entrance hall and the MRC administrative offices with contemporary colours.

The completion of this work coincides with the unveiling of the new MRC logo, which replaces the former logo created 33 years ago by Erika Taylor from Ormstown.

The new look for the Haut-Saint-Laurent  « represents the vitality of our region and the diversity of our local and agricultural products. It’s a colourful and current image that highlights the various facets of our beautiful rural area as it becomes a featured location, » declared Mayor Lebrun, surrounded by 8 of the 10 mayors from the territory.

Anick Lacroix, Communications Coordinator for the MRC, explained that the logo is a tridecagon (a 13 sided polygon) which represents the 13 member municipalities. The eight white lines running across it are associated with the responsibilities of an MRC.

In the background are various colours that connect to the region such as yellow for corn, red for apples, blue for waterways, and even brown for soil, maple products and archaeology.

Along with the completion of this new communications tool comes a new web site which provides the MRC with a more up-to-date, simplified and user-friendly site that is adapted to new technologies.
