Movie buffs in Huntingdon and the Haut-Saint-Laurent will soon have their own film club, thanks to the Ciné-Cinema project proposed by the Little Green Library.

The films will generally be screened in the Library's ample premises on the second Friday evening of every month at 8 p.m. Demolition, a feature length American film by Quebec director Jean-Marc Vallée, will open the 2016-2017 season.  It will exceptionally be screened twice; Friday, October 14 at 8 p.m. in its original version with French subtitles and on Sunday, October 16 at 3 p.m. in a dubbed version in French.

"People have often expressed an interest in having repertory films screened in Huntingdon," explained Louise Charlebois, President of the Library Board of Directors.

Ciné-Cinema, the bilingual name chosen for the new film club, intends to screen films in their original version, dubbed or with sub-titles and does not wish in any way to compete with Objectif : cinéma!, the film club in Saint-Anicet.

Both film clubs have agreed, as it happens,  not to screen the same films during the same season to film enthusiasts in the region.

Unlike commercial theatres where the price of admission is often $12 or more, The Little Green Library will only charge $7. Members of the organizing committee, Alain Boisvert, Judith Imboden, Louise Charlebois, Jean Lachance and Donald Roberge, hope that each screening will draw at least 30 people.

To help fund the activity and keep the price of admission as low as possible, the committee is looking for sponsors interested in supporting the film club and would like to establish a Friends of Ciné-Cinema group.

Mini-festival

Next January, The Little Green Library will also offer a wonderful surprise for lovers of the 7th art when filmmaker, Alain Boisvert, from Le matou noir in Huntingdon, will hold what he mischievously calls "the littlest animated film festival in the world."

All information about the ciné-club can be found on the Library web site at www.pbv-lgl.org or on its Facebook page. The Library is located at 4 Lorne, Huntingdon.
