In the running for re-election as Mayor of Huntingdon, André Brunette is relying on his achievements and stability to win the confidence of voters come election day on November 5.
As part of his electoral platform, the outgoing mayor highlights his work to rehabilitate industrial buildings, including the complex on Dalhousie Street (Plombco), as well as the establishment of 12 new businesses and the expansion of six others.
« Improving the quality of life of the citizens, countering the exodus, increasing the population, through the creation of jobs is the key to success, » he says, while mentioning a $25 million industrial project in progress for a medicinal marijuana facility that would create 150 jobs.
At the administrative level, he emphasizes the renewal of a collective agreement for municipal employees, the adoption of an economic development plan, the creation of the town’s website and the Sport-O-Thèque partnership.
As for municipal infrastructure, André Brunette plans to build a new municipal garage in 2018 with financial assistance that will cover 70% of the associated costs. He also stresses the refurbishment of the fire station and the wastewater treatment plant, the rehabilitation of the drinking water treatment facility, as well as repairs made to industrial buildings. During his last mandate, the Town also saw the creation of a parking lot on Prince Street, the development of Sellar Park, as well as the rehabilitation of the Pool Cottage on Russel Island.
