It’s no secret that the Haut-Saint-Laurent is home to some of the finest producers, shops and bakeries, and for a second year, the CLD du Haut-Saint-Laurent has brought them all together in a comprehensive guide to the best of buying local in the Valley.
“Many producers have small shops that are open year round, but we sometimes forget about this,” says Audrey St-Aubin, the Tourism Development and Promotion Agent at the CLD du Haut-Saint-Laurent. The Guide, which is a free download off the CLD website, allows those looking to encourage local producers to take advantage of a single resource with the names and addresses of at least 45 businesses in eight different categories.
The 2018 edition has been completely redesigned, and includes several new businesses, includ-ing a new bistro-catering service in Huntingdon, a wild boar producer, and three additional baker-ies. The Guide also includes updated listings that expand on those featured in the previous edi-tion. Each business was invited to submit a file including the company name, address and com-plete description of their products and any additional services offered on site.
“The team at the CLD works very hard every year to produce campaigns such as this aimed at spreading the message of the importance of buying local,” suggests St-Aubin. The Guide is an incomparable tool for encouraging our local economy, and best of all, “it’s free” she adds.
