A by-election will be held on February 28 in Godmanchester to fill the vacant position for municipal councillor in seat 5.
Two citizens have submitted their candidature to become councillor; Bill Martin and Daniel Vallée.
An advanced poll will take place on February 21 at the town hall in Godmanchester, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. The election on February 28 will also take place at the town hall, but this time between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Following this by-election, 21 months remain until the end of the present mandate which was held in November, 2013. The next general election is expected to take place on November 4, 2017.
Seat no 5 has been vacant since the tragic death of Municipal Councillor David Lamb in September, 2015. The newly elected councillor will work alongside the five current councillors and Mayor Pierre Poirier. The population of Godmanchester is 1,401.
