While the election was drawing to a close on October 19th, Conservative candidate Albert De Martin was available to share his thoughts on the 2015 federal election.

“This election has been very media-driven,” said De Martin. “The people are going to decide who runs the country tonight and I’m going to accept this verdict.”

He went on to express his thoughts on the favouritism that the media has lent to Liberal candidate Justin Trudeau over the past week. “Who do you want to have manage? A star? Or a guy who knows exactly how to manage us? That’s why I chose the Conservative party. For me, the value, that is exactly what I want, because I think about the future of my grandkids. Leave the money in the pocket of the people.”

He also expressed concern over the proposed increase in tax rates for those in higher tax brackets, explaining that those with the most money are usually able to relocate if overburdened with tax penalties, citing France as an example.

De Martin, who runs his 3rd generation family farm in Godmanchester, plans to return to farming following his political campaign.
