Fifty one year old Sylvain Sarault and forty seven year old Nancy Soucy were arrested and remain in detention following a raid that was carried out May 18 on a residence located on route 209 in Franklin.
During the police operation, which was the result of information from the public, officers from the Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC station proceeded to seize approximately 600 cannabis plants as well as fire arms (long guns) which were improperly stored.
The suspects appeared at the Valleyfield Courthouse Wednesday, May 18. Initially, the crown refused to release them. The next day, on May 19 Nancy Soucy was released, while Sarault will have to remain behind bars until his next court date on Thursday, May 26.
Finally, the Criminal Investigation Bureau and a Sûreté du Québec dog handler were called in for the raid.
