On Sunday September 13th, the Chateauguay Valley Horse Club held its final horse show of the 2015 season.

Despite scattered rain showers, the CVHC welcomed over 25 riders into the indoor arena at the Ormstown fairgrounds on Sunday morning. The fourth show of the CVHC season marks the close of the term for the club. Riders from both Western and English disciplines participated in the show, which is designated for equine enthusiasts of all levels. The show is also known for its encouragement of the participation of greener horses—something that makes the CVHC standout in the local equestrian community.

The end of show season is a special one for all riders. While the awarding of the trophies only comes later at the organization’s local banquet, many riders went home with a trunkful of ribbons—not to mention countless memories. One particular standout moment of the day for the audience was when a young rider entered a battle of wills with her mount. The horse refused to halt, and the rider was able to bring her horse under control—resulting in huge applause from the dedicated audience—which really represents what the long-standing show is all about.

According to president Rose Huxted-Morrison, the day was one full of fun, for both the volunteers and the riders alike. Of the day she said, “Even though the rain may have dampered our last show slightly, I feel very positive about the outpouring support of new competitors for next year. And new volunteers, to help keep this wonderful club going!” 2015 marked Huxted-Morrison’s first year of presidency for the long-standing club. The club will meet again for its end of year banquet on November 20th, 2015 before kicking off its 2016 season in May, leaving riders plenty of time to get in shape for next season.
