Richard Gauthier, a 55 year old resident of Venise-en-Québec, died Monday, August 10 after losing control of his motorcycle in Havelock.

It is still unclear what caused the motorcycle to leave the road which happened at around 9 pm on route 202 but it may be related to the presence of an animal. “The man swerved and veered off the road before landing in the bushes”, confirmed Joyce Kemp of the Sûreté du Québec.

The motorcyclist was unconscious when the ambulance arrived. He was transferred promptly to hospital where he was declared deceased on arrival.

Route 202 was closed for six hours to allow investigators with the Sûreté du Québec to assess the scene of the accident.
