The result of three years of work, Alain Boisvert’s film documents the artistic journey of local John Ryan and Natasha Smoke-Santiago, the artists selected for the “Sharing Through the Generations” project, an initiative meant to draw two very different cultures together through artistic expression.
The 22-minute film, which includes music from talents such as Daibhid Fraser, Genticorum Le Cascou, Kevin MacLeod and Les Chauffeurs À Pied Reel En Sol, was produced in accordance with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the Regional Conference of élus Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent (CRE).
On January 30th, Boisvert premiered his film at the Saint-Anicet Town Hall. Since then, it has captured the attention of Montreal’s Festival International du Film sur l’Art (FIFA)—a notable honour for Boisvert, as the organization is a powerful force in the Canadian film industry.
A non-profit effort, FIFA is dedicated to the recognition of art-based films. Held every spring, the festival is committed to honouring the artistic achievements of Canadian talent. The documentary will premiere at FIFA on Saturday, March 19th. Beginning at 12:30 P.M., the event will be held at Montreal’s McCord Museum in the Theâtre J. Armand Bombardier.
