Now until May 7th is the last chance to see renowned Upper Saint Lawrence artist Detlef Gotzen’s show Transmutations on display at The Alpha Gallery in Ottawa.

Originally from Colonge, Germany, Gotzen is best known for his highly esteemed stained glass commissions, including work for Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal, the Peace Tower Windows at Parliament in Ottawa, and locally for Huntingdon’s Alfred Langevin Culture Hall.

Detlef Gotzen currently works from his studio in Saint-Chrysostome. His paintings and sculptures, which are shown under the name “Dego,” are a departure from his highly technical work in stained glass. Ottawa Life has described the work in his current show as “visceral, cathartic and visually arresting” and compared it to Pablo Picasso’s early Dadaist work and Salvador Dali’s surrealist dreamscapes.

Those travelling to Ottawa in the next week will not want to miss a chance to see the work in person at ALPHA ART GALLERY, 25 Murray Street Ottawa. T. 613.241.7671.
