On September 9th, music enthusiasts across the Chateauguay Valley will hear The Damn Truth—the band, that is.

Huntingdon’s Grove Hall will host the Montreal-based band, who are getting ready to tour Canada to promote their newest, full-length album, Devilish Folk. Lee-la Baum (vocals/guitar), Tom Shemer (guitar), and Dave Traina (drums) make up the gritty rock n’ roll group, which has been described as “…a balance of genre-defying bruising, blues-based, blue-collar rock”.  According to the band’s guitarist Shemer, he thinks that some of the older fans are drawn to the band “…because we remind them of what rock’n’roll used to be like in its heyday, when it was still a bit dangerous.” The local art hub will serve as the kicking off point for the tour.

Most recently, lead singer Lee-la Baum was selected by Yves Saint Laurent to record a cover version of U2’s “Love is Blindness” for YSL Beauty. The song is to be used as the soundtrack for its newest fragrance ad campaign, "Mon Paris".  While this commission has certainly drawn the attention of many, the band’s newest work is something to behold—especially considering the line-up of talent that has worked on the album. Credits include producer/engineer Jean Massicotte, Grammy winner Tchad Blake and mastering engineer, John Davis.

Tickets are $15 at the door, $12 if purchased in advance. The show will begin at 8:00 P.M. For more information, visit www.grovehall.ca. Montreal band Mountain Dust will open the show.
