Locals can look forward to an indoor farmer’s market courtesy of Savoury Treasures of the Valley, an annual fundraiser organized by CVR’s P.A.G.

Once a year, Chateauguay Valley Regional High School’s Parent Action Group (P.A.G.) hosts Savoury Treasures of the Valley. The event, which works in conjunction with the Huntington Farmer’s Market, will be held on Saturday, October 17th from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. in CVR’s cafeteria. With nearly a hundred parent volunteers involved, all funds raised will go improve classroom technology. This year’s goal is to raise fund for the purchase of a SMART board for the high school.

The event, which has been typically held in September, will take place in October this year. The day will be a celebration of local efforts—with 13 vendors in total. While there are too many participants to mention all by name, some highlights will include maple products, freshly baked goods, treats from an organic apple orchard, locally roasted coffee, as well as artisanal products and locally brewed wine. Many vendors will offer samples, providing guests with an opportunity to try out their produce.

A special addition will welcome shoppers this year. PAG volunteers will offer a bistro to guests, including a homemade soup and dessert. Lending the day a musical note, the CVR Choir (taught by Lynn Harper) will be performing throughout the afternoon.

Originally headed up by former PAG members Carol Ness and Rosemary Harris, the organization is run by parents whose children are currently enrolled at the high school. Current volunteer Ken Brooks is particularly excited about this year’s event. “It’s the public’s chance to come out and help CVR while enjoying local products and homemade goods,” he said.

CVR principal Brigitte Barrette is an avid supporter of the event. « Our parents are very involved and take pride in supporting our school. We are thankful for their ongoing support and dedication toward student success. Again this year, their fundraising efforts will support technology in the classroom. This event is a great opportunity to sample local products elaborated in our region, meet and encourage local Valley producers and support our students’ learning. Thank you also to our producers who contribute greatly to this worthwhile event. »

Admittance is $5. The PAG bistro meal will be provided for an additional donation of $5.
