The Sûreté du Québec called off the search for a resident of Saint-Anicet whose boat capsized on the Salmon River in the early afternoon on Thursday, December 24.
« The search was called off on December 27 because the weather conditions were bad but has not as yet resumed and we don’t know when it may resume, » said Joyce Kemp on Monday, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The 46 year old man, Stéphane Robidoux, was with another individual at the time of the tragedy on Thursday, December 24 on the Rivière aux Saumons. One of the two managed to reach the shore but the other has not been found.
Several rescue teams were deployed to the site within hours to try and find the missing man including the Coast Guard, fire fighters from the Saint-Anicet and Fort Covington Fire Department, as well as the SQ emergency unit.
The Sûreté also deployed a team of divers and a helicopter to the scene but the search found nothing.
