The auditorium at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School was transformed into a big top as students showcased their hidden talents throughout the Talent Fest 2018 presentation of Le Cirque.
Under the coordination of Ms. Jessica Barrette, Ms. Sia Georgaklis, and Ms. Karolane Leduc, Talent Fest 2018 was a spectacular success. “The beauty of Talent Fest and other Per-forming Arts events is that we are afforded the chance to see students shine in a light outside the classroom,” says Lynn Harper, the Musical Director for the Talent Fest, who notes it is the stu-dents who “prepare individual acts and together create a unique cohesive blend of song, dance and drama… bookended by spectacular opening and closing numbers… and narrated by hilarious Masters of ceremony.”
With two shows, ringmasters Aidan Burrows and Jacob Jadah held down the house as one ex-ceptional performance followed another, including instrumentals, a variety of songs, comedy skits, and a number of dances in different styles, including a traditional Chinese dance performed by Chinese exchange students, Jing Ye and Lin Ye. Another crowd favourite proved to be grade 7 student, and aspiring magician, Wyatt Morrison-Stacey, “who wowed the audience with his charm, comedic wit and stage presence,” notes Ms. Harper.
“As the Music Specialist, I am extremely proud to see the next generation of musicians rise to the challenge,” she adds. “Truly, music and the performing arts are alive and well at CVR.”
And, as with all Performing Arts events, Talent Fest 2018 benefited from a student driven tech crew capable of creating lighting effects and technical elements that allow the audience to feel they are at a professional venue. As well. all of the choreography for this year’s show was creat-ed, taught and organized by grade 10 student, Zoe Langille, including the circus themed opening number as well as a finale that brought the house to their feet.
