The Huntingdon Huskies Visit the Ottawa Senators
On Monday, March 6th, the Huntingdon Huskies` MAGH (4-6 years old), Novice (7-8 years old) and Atom (9-10 years old) hockey teams were invited by the Ottawa Senators to attend the Bruins vs. Senators hockey game at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
53 children were VIP guests at both the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins morning skates and were given the opportunity to meet some notable NHL personalities. The children were also fortunate enough to receive a big league pep talk on perseverance.
In the afternoon, the young hockey players were guests of the Chateauguay Valley’s very own member of Parliament, Anne Quach, in one of the Senate Committee rooms. Quach discussed Canada and its political system, as well as the importance of understanding and participating in the political process. She also spoke about the Valley’s local issues.
Watching the Ottawa Senators win the Bruins vs. Senators game (4 to 2) made for the perfect end to a wonderful day. Two buses headed home to Huntingdon (a total of ninety people attended the trip, including chaperones). The outing was such a success that local coaches are already planning next year' visit on Ottawa.
