Dylan Buckman, a young, amateur photographer from Hinchinbrooke, won three prizes at the annual photography competition organized by the Haut Saint-Laurent MRC.
He first won the prix du public in the youth category with a prize of $250. He then took 2nd and 3rd place in the youth category of the juried competition. Altogether, he won $550.
The young photographer received his prizes when the winners were announced on Wednesday, October 14 at the regular council meeting of the MRC.
First prize in the youth category of the juried competition was awarded to Patricia Legault of Huntingdon. In the adult category, Normand Jacob from Saint-Anicet came first ahead of Maryse Leblanc from Athelstan and Céline Montpetit from Ormstown. The prix du public was won by Louis Riel from Ormstown.
2015 marks the 10th edition of this photography competition. Luc De Tremmerie, cultural coordinator for the MRC mentioned that it receives financial support from the Caisse Desjardins du Haut Saint-Laurent and les Galeries Ormstown.
The jury was composed of Alain Castagner, prefect, communications agent, Anick Lacroix and professional photographer, René Derome.
